Proper Parking Gate Usage

How to properly access parking gates.

Parking would like to provide you with a few friendly reminders for using parking gates on the Georgia Tech campus. Please be aware:

(1) The gate system works properly with sequential swipes: Some gates are set up for access on the entrance and the exit. When your buzz/gate card is used to gain entry into a lot/deck, and by chance the gate arm is up when you leave, do not just drive through without swiping your card again. Please stop and swipe out. Otherwise, the gate system will recognize that you are still in that lot. Hence, upon your return to that lot, your access will be denied.

(2) Additional Access: Permit holders may also access certain lots after hours - beginning at 5:00 PM and all weekend. Any attempts to access gates during non-designated times will result in access denial. These lots include:

  • E81 - Technology Square Deck (must exit by 6 AM / Monday - Friday)
  • W02 - Student Center Deck (must exit by 8 AM / Monday - Friday)
  • W10 - CRC Deck (must exit by 8 AM / Monday - Friday)
  • W21 - Physics (State Street) lot (must exit by 8 AM / Monday - Friday)
  • W23 - North Deck (must exit by 8 AM / Monday - Friday)

NOTE: All valid permit holders have 24/7 access to E70 - 14th Street Deck

(3) Damage to Buzz/Gate Cards may result in gate denial. Your card may need to be replaced.

(4) Gate access has a built-in time delay to prevent misuse. Please allow at least a 5 minute interval when traveling from one gated lot to another.

The Department of Parking and Transportation is here to assist you with your parking needs. Please feel free to contact us if you have any difficulties. Our business hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM..
