Wait List & Lot Choices

Wait List and Lot Choice Information

Q What is the Wait List?
A The Wait List is a way to maintain registration priorities through out the year. Parking maintains the priority group information from registration to assign parking spaces as they become available. When space becomes available Parking notifies customers of the available space by e-mail or campus mail.

Q How does the Wait List work?
A The Parking Wait List maintains your higher lot choices. For example during web registration you make six choices 1st choice W02, 2nd choice W021, 3rd choice W01, 4th choice E52 5th choice W23 and 6th choice E65 and you were assigned to E65.

Parking will assign a Wait List Position number to the W02, W21, W01, E52, and W23.

You may view those position numbers and monitor the progress by logging on to the Wait List Web Page. Using the same lot choices example, you receive your first choice of W02, the Parking Wait List assumes if you got your first choice then there is no need to maintain your second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth choices. You would not be on any Wait Lists because you received your first choice. The order of your choices matters.
top
Q How does the Wait List affect my lot choices?
A Your first lot choice should be the lot you want most and your last choice should be the lot you want least. The order of your choices matters because you are removed from lower choice lots if your wait list position number is offered to you during the year.

Q Which Wait List had the most activity during the last parking year?
A Generally the residential areas (ER51, ER52, WR29, WR30) and the West Deck (W10) had the most activity. The least activity were campus core lots, such as (E41, E42, W21).

Q What lot do I have the best chance of getting into?
A
  • Web Registration allows students to choose any available lot. The lots are filled using Registration Priorities.
  • Some facts - No undergrad student will get E41, E42, E44, E45, W21, W27, OR W28. Don't waste a choice.
  • W21 accommodated a few doctoral students by March 2005. It is a wasted choice for any student except a doctoral student who had a permit last year.
  • W01, W02, W10, E62 and E65 wait list accommodated the most requests all year, including late request.
  • 85 % of students with a parking permit park in W01, W02, E62, W23, ER51, WR29, WR30, ER52, and E65
  • Tech Square Deck E81 is a good commuter choice. Five-minute bus routes will serve these areas.
  • E65 should be the sixth choice of all NEW under-grad requests.

Q Does my Wait List position from 2005-06 affect my registration for Fall 2006-07?
A No. The current Wait List ends on March 31st and a new one will be created from 2006-07 registrations.
