Penalties and Fines

Georgia Tech parking enforcement and campus police officers will issue Georgia Institute of Technology parking citations (tickets) for violations of motor vehicle registration, parking regulations, and other violation as noted in the following section:

Falsification of Information on the Registration Application - Audits & Verification
All information provided on the registration application is subject to verification through random audits and comparison to various campus databases, including the registrar's office and the various state license records. When audited, individual parking applicants are required to provide written documentation verifying all information indicated on the registration application. If any information is shown to be falsified, the person's parking privileges may be revoked for up to two years. Appeal of any decision resulting in the suspension of parking privileges will be conducted through the appropriate Appeals Board. Employee incidents will be referred to the employee's supervisor and student cases will be referred to the Dean of Students for further disciplinary action.

Falsifying records, obtaining a decal by fraudulent means, displaying stolen, altered or counterfeit permit.*

Parking in a non-visitor zone without a permit . $50

Parking Violations

Parking in a space reserved for handicapped without appropriate permit $500
Parking within 10 feet of a fire hydrant or in a posted fire lane $100
Parking on sidewalk or landscape $100

Parking in reserved space, non-designated space, or restricted area

Double parking, blocking another parked vehicle, or parking in a manner that takes up more than one space $50
Parking in driveway, loading zone, or obstructing traffic $50

Parking in a designated "NO PARKING" zone. This includes:

  • Spaces with a broken or non-functioning parking meter
  • Bus and/or Trolley stops
  • Posted Special Event Parking

Illegally parking in a pay lot $25
Parking at an expired parking meter during the posted enforcement period $25
Parking contrary to traffic flow $25

Parking in zone without appropriate permit

Other Violations
Violation Type Assessed Fee

Altering, defacing, removing, or destroying any official control device, immobilizing device, signal, gate, or sign.*

In addition to the penalty, the cost of damages will be assessed.

* Employee incidents will be referred to the employee's supervisor, and student cases will be referred to the Dean of Students for further disciplinary action. In addition, cases may be referred to the Georgia Tech police department for legal action.
